Happy New Year!

Here's a walk-cycle I've spend way too much time on... I've decided to add that extra bit of personality to it by having him (the same D.T. rig) waving to someone off screen.
As for the process it's like with any walk-cycle: contact, down and passing positions and from there on the magic is in the Curve Editor all the way.
It took me a while to get the right arm waving fluidly and to keep it natural to its arc but I think it's not too far off.

Pre-Production Test

I'm practicing a bit with a Digital Tutor rig for a short film in college (I'm going to use different rigs for that later on).
I started working pose to pose and since I've only 2 main poses, I used the graph editor as soon as I was happy with them.

The first video has only the main poses and the second video is the final tweaked version.

Flag and music synch

This was done as a sound synch exercise. It was a bit challenging to get the right timing and the right number of in-betweens without upsetting the overall flow of the flag. Working on paper again was a good break. The soundtrack is a very short part of one of my favorite pieces of music by G. Gershwin, the "Rhapsody in blue".

Life drawing

Here are some life drawing studies of hands and feet done in class using oil pastels.
The poses were 15 minutes long.

Colour Studies

I went yesterday to the Natural History Museum in Dublin and here are two colour studies in oil pastels. The squirrel-like animal was just about the size of a regular squirrel, probably some ancestor down the line; I forgot to take down the name of it.

..

I should probably buy myself a decent oil pastels set as I'm using the basic 12 pieces set now....

Sketches from my Journal

Sketches done watching a documentary
More sketches
Concept design for the main character
Story development sketch, I think :P
Apple crumble....

Here are some sketches from my Journal for the production module. There are loose sketches from documentaries, a bit of concept work and an anatomical study. A story is slowly starting to take shape but I'm not too sure if I'm going to stick with it for the actual pitch at the end of next month.

Back to college

This is my 1st project for college. A visual response to a cultural event. My choice: the Fringe Festival this year.
It's also a short exercise for a walk cycle (on stilts)...Hope you like it. Oh, I should've written the credits for the soundtrack. Well it Jesper Kid (Assassin's Creed).
